Companion, Cute, Handfed, House Trained, Playful, Quiet, Tame
Hopefully I will not be too long winded but here is the situation.
We are planning to move out of the country to australia. Our friends and family don't know yet but we are slowly preparing. Try as we might australia will NOT allow us to import our unique family pets. This includes our birds. I decided I am going to start looking for the right family so there will be plenty of time to make sure she ends up with the right "flock " :)
Aldora is a DNA sexed female and microchiped.... (read more) She is a 2nd generation hybrid the result of a Catalina (a greewnwing & military hybrid) and a Greenwing pair. She is about a year and a half old and I have had her since she was less than 6 months old, hand fed her myself. I work with many large birds/ macaws and compared to most she is a quieter and more reserved macaw. She loves to explore but is not your typical wood chewing or destructive. Example she would much rather nibble on a button for an hour than chew on a chair leg. She has been taken out and socialized with other birds and people often. A real sweetheart we have worked with her from day one on boundaries and being gentle. Has never bitten and broken skin if she gets rough a stern no and a small separation from activity is enough to remind her to play gentle. She steps up, steps down, rolls over, plays tickle, will step up using her beak (if you offer her a curved finger and tell her up). She listens well and I have started the basics of clicker training. She is trained to wear a flight suit (diaper) as well as a harness and lead. Her wings are partially clipped right now. Until recently I never cut them and started to flight train her. But for safety reasons and her curiosity, though I doubt she would fly away, I made the decision to keep them clipped. When she was not clipped she would fly on command to our arm. Toes are always trimmed and her beak cared for.
Aldora is more cautious than rambunctious and if you are looking for a cuddle bug, she is it! She loves people and being with the "flock" she never grew out of her cuddly nature and doubt that she ever will. Not a big talker she can say a few words Hi, Hello, Whatcha doing, Joey, and Momma. She mostly murmurs in conversational tones when we talk trying to be part of the conversation.
When meeting new people she seems to prefer females over males but Derek, my significant other is proof that if you spend time and love on her and respect her it doesn't matter gender, size or age. She has been around dogs, though we don't own one and is cautious/ curious and would rather stay with the "people".
She would come with toys, perches, food, harness and lead, clicker trainer, ect. Everything she enjoys.
Asking $1,000 for her and if you wish I also have her very well cared for large macaw cage (see pic)for $200
