Aggressive, Companion, Cute, Playful, Talking, Tame
I'm re-homing Toby, a blue-front Amazon. I was told he is a he and is 5 years old, but I've not personally had him tested. We're in Marietta, GA. I've had him approximately 2 months and bought him from a lady who had to sell due to developing allergy issues with most animals. She told me that he sometimes would bite, but he was very affectionate with the older girl in the house and would let her scratch his head all the time. She would say, "come here Toby" and he'd walk across the house to her.... (read more) He does talk a lot and says things like, "Hello", "Hi Toby", "Bye Toby", "Whatever!", "Whatcha doin?", "Toby's a pretty bird" and probably some others. When he is away from his cage he will step up and get on your arms or shoulders, as shown below. But he is territorial in his cage... sometimes. He will usually let my son scratch his head while he's on the cage (the bird, not my son) but he did bite him once and now my son won't even try. If you stick your fingers in or toward the cage he will sometimes try to bite, but if you have a treat, he will walk up fine and gently take it out of your fingers. I have been touch training him for a week and he seems to be doing well with that and really likes dried mangos as his treat of choice for that. He loves to play with toys and explore. When he rings his cowbell it sounds like he's really laughing and playing, which is what I love listening to best. He really is a neat bird and I would keep him and try to train him more but with my son now being paranoid of him and my wife being a wimp, they both put all their attention to our other two birds. Asking $550 and he comes with his stainless steel cage.
