Additional Comments
We call the kakariki "the bird that can do no wrong." This naturally friendly species offers great companionship. This clutch are little snugglers and have the best of both worlds - both friendly and raised in the healthiest way possible. They've been handled for multiple sessions every day and raised by friendly parents. Mom even feeds them while we hold them. Highly trusting of humans, they love to disappear into our hair and clothing but are just as content to sit in our hands and stare around with wonder.... (read more) In adulthood they are energetic, relatively quiet, gentle, highly interactive with humans, full of individual personality and overall a riot to live with. They also make some of the cutest noises of any parrot species.

As of Feb 1 the oldest is 4.5 weeks old and the youngest around 3.5 weeks. We allow fledging to occur naturally in a flight cage. This occurs around 5 weeks and they will be ready for new homes around 7-8 weeks.
For rearing pellets we mainly use Harrison's High Potency Coarse (this pair prefers the larger pellet size), and they also accept Roudybush High Energy Nibles and Hagen Tropican Alternative Formula which we include so the babies are prepared for a variety of homes. In addition to pellets the parents are given chop, whole veggies, sprouted legumes/seeds/grains and a powerful avian probiotic every day during rearing.
Dad is turquoise and mom is cinnamon, so all 5 chicks are split to turquoise and the green male is also split to cinnamon. All will produce a large variety if paired with a cinnamon turquoise or other splits.
